Everything shared in our sessions is treated with the utmost respect and confidentiality. This space is yours—a place to speak freely, be heard, and feel safe.
As a psychotherapist, I am ethically and legally bound to keep all information confidential, with a few important exceptions, where I may be required to act in order to protect your safety or the safety of others. These include:
- If there is an immediate and serious risk of harm to yourself.
- If there is disclosure of current child abuse, or abuse of a vulnerable adult (such as an elder).
- If there is a clear and serious threat to another identifiable person.
In such situations, I have a legal and ethical duty to notify appropriate services—such as your GP, social services, or emergency contacts—to ensure the safety of all involved. Wherever possible, I will always seek to discuss this with you first, and together we would agree on the best course of action.
Outside of these rare circumstances, you can trust that what we explore together stays entirely within the therapeutic space
